Railsplitter Golf Team Places 6th at UWG Tournament

CARROLLTON, GA – The Railsplitter golf team made a 6th place finish at this week’s University of West Georgia Invitational Tournament held in Carrollton, Georgia.

The LMU men completed the tournament with a team score of 641, finishing behind Florida Tech (1st place, 606), North Alabama (2nd place, 614), West Georgia (3rd place, 619), Thomas (4th place, 627) and the West Georgia Red Team in 5th place with a 639.

Lincoln Memorial senior Craig Reasor (Big Stone Gap, VA) made a strong charge at the top of the pack.  Reasor finished the tournament tied for 2nd place overall with rounds of 76 and 73 for a two-day total 149, three strokes off the leader and only five strokes over par.

Railsplitter junior Aaron Hammons (Saline, MI) also made solid showing.  Hammons finish 16th out of 42 participants with scores of 76 and 81 for a final 157, 11 strokes back of the lead and 13 strokes over par.

The Remainder of the LMU squad finished toward the back of the field.  Tyler Allen (O’Fallon, IL) tied for 31st with an 84 and an 86 for a total 179, while Jeremy Gordon (Middlesboro, KY) was 34th with a 90 and an 81 for a final 171. 

LMU senior Brad Davis (New Tazewell, TN) and freshman Justin Edwards (Kingston, TN) both tied for 36th place overall.  Davis shot a 92 and an 80 for a two-day score of 172, while Edwards scored of 80 and 92 also closed hit tournament out with a 172.

Freshman Jacob Collingsworth (New Tazewell, TN) finished the tournament in 38th place overall.  Collingsworth turned in rounds of 91 and 86 for a final 177 to complete the Railsplitters' tournament.

This weekend the LMU men travel to Greenville, South Carolina for the BMW Collegiate to be held at Verdae Greens Golf Club.  The match will be the Railsplitters' last before traveling to Hot Springs, Arkansas April 19-21 for the upcoming GSC Tournament.
