OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release March 13, 2006 Lady Splitters in Third Place after First Round of LMU Spring Invitational Golf Tournament TAZEWELL, TN – The Lincoln Memorial University women’s golf team is in third place following first round action of the LMU Spring Invitational Golf Tournament being held at Woodlake Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday. The Lady Railsplitters shot a team total 360, 72 strokes over par and 31 strokes behind first-day leader Southern Indiana who turned in a 329. West Georgia is in second place after Monday’s first round, turning in a 334, while Campbellsville University shot a 367 and the University of the Cumberlands and Lambuth University did not finish the first day’s play. One stroke off the lead and five strokes over par in 2nd place is LMU junior Rachel Spurs (Whitby, Ontario). Spurs turned in a round of 77, one stroke behind current leader Alisha Luigs of Southern Indiana. In 12th place overall is Lady Railsplitter sophomore Sarah Ross (Waveland, IN). Ross finished Monday’s play with an 88, 12 strokes off the lead while teammate Christin Rhyne (Powell, TN) stands in 17th place with a first day score of 94. LMU’s Sarah Oswalt (Bluffton, IN) is only three positions behind in 20th place with a score of 101. Final round action of this year’s LMU Spring Invitational will get underway Tuesday morning and will rap up early Tuesday afternoon.-LMU- For additional
