OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release March 13, 2006 Railsplitters 10 Strokes Back after 1st Round of LMU Invitational Tournament TAZEWELL, TN – The Lincoln Memorial men’s golf team is in a battle to move up in the pack after the first day of the LMU Invitational Golf Tournament held at Woodlake Golf Club in Tazewell, Tennessee. The Railsplitters are in 5th place after turning in a first day team score of 323. Finishing ahead of Lincoln Memorial were West Georgia with a score of 313 (1st), Walters State Community College Red Team with a 317 (2nd), Walters State Community College’s Blue Team with a 318 (3rd) and the University of the Cumberlands in 4th place with a 319. Campbellsville University placed 6th following Monday’s first round play with a score of 325, while Lambuth University did not finish and as a result posted no score at the end of the first day. LMU junior Craig Reasor (Big Stone Gap, VA) led the Railsplitter charge on Monday, turning in a first round score of 74, only one stroke behind Eric King of the University of the Cumberlands (73). Jeremy Gordon (Middlesboro, KY) recorded a strong first round for the Railsplitters by finishing with a 77, five strokes over par and four strokes off the lead, while teammate Tyler Allen (O’Fallon, IL) is tied for 15th place with a score of 81. Back in the pack but still within striking distance is LMU senior Brad Davis (New Tazewell, TN). Davis is tied for 17th place after Monday’s play with an 82 and is nine strokes off the lead. Other Railsplitters vying to get back in the hunt for one of the top spots Tuesday will be LMU’s Aaron Hammons (Saline, MI), Jacob Collingsworth (New Tazewell, TN) and Justin Edwards (Kingston, TN). Hammons is tied for 28th place overall after Monday’s first round action with an 86, while Collingsworth is 34th with a 90 and Edwards is in 36th place with a 92. Final round action of the 2006 LMU Spring Invitational Tournament will get underway Tuesday morning at Woodlake and will finish early Tuesday afternoon. -LMU- For additional
