OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release February 6, 2006 Lady Railsplitter Golf Team Struggles at Kiawah Island Invitational KIAWAH ISLAND, SC – It was a tough weekend of golf for the Lincoln Memorial University women’s golf team as the Lady Railsplitters finished in last place of the Kiawah Island Invitational Tournament. (Results) The LMU women finished in 17th place of this year’s tournament with a two-day team score of 775. Junior Rachel Spurs (Whitby, Ontario, Canada) led the way and was the only Lady Railsplitter golfer to finish inside the top-50. Spurs shot an 86 and an 85 for a final 171 to finish tied for 24th place. Lady Railsplitter sophomore Sarah Ross (Waveland, IN) was twenty strokes back. Ross turned in rounds of 95 and 96 for a two-day total 191 to tie for 67th place, while teammate Sarah Oswalt (Bluffton, IN) was 80th with scores of 103 and 98 for a 201. Sophomore Christin Rhyne (Powell, TN) finished 83rd overall with a pair of 106’s for a total 212. The Lady Railsplitters now have more than a month to work on their game. The next time the LMU women will hit the links in collegiate competition will be March 12 when they host the LMU Spring Invitational Tournament a Woodlake Golf Course in Tazewell, Tennessee. -LMU- For additional
