Lady Railsplitters Finish Fourteenth In
Tusculum/Kiawah Island Intercollegiate In Playoff
KIAWAH ISLAND, SC - Third-ranked Rollins College shot a final round 290 and won the team title on a playoff at the 2007 Tusculum College/Kiawah Island Women's Intercollegiate Sunday afternoon at Cougar Point Golf Course. The Tars finished with 306-290=596 to tie top-ranked Florida Southern College, who posted 305-291=596 over the 36-hole tournament. The tournament title was decided on a tie-breaker using the lowest score of each team's fifth player. Rollins' Cristina Gugier posted 85-78=163, two shots better than Mocs' fifth player. Defending Intercollegiate champion Nova Southeastern University finished third with 609, six shots better than last year's winning tally. Newberry College finished fourth with 645, while Berry College rounded out the top five with 647. Wingate University placed sixth with 649, followed by USC Upstate (650), Pfeiffer (656), host Tusculum (658), Belmont Abbey College (667), Lenoir-Rhyne College (686), Mt. Olive College (703), Queens University of Charlotte (713), Lincoln Memorial University (719), St. Andrews Presbyterian College (752), Limestone College (769) and The Citadel (800). Rollins's Sunday round of 290 was the lowest team score in the five-year history of the event as was tournament total 596 by both the Tars and Florida Southern. LMU was led by Katy Oliver, who was tied for 40th after finishing with 169. Rachel Spurs finished 54th with 175. Sarah Oswalt was tied for 69th with 186 and Millicent Chaney rounded out the LMU scoring as she finished tied for 72nd with 189.
