No. 1 Florida Southern Leads
Tusculum/Kiawah Island Interollegiate
KIAWAH ISLAND, SC - The top-ranked Florida Southern women's golf team established a new tournament record with its opening round 305 to lead after the first day of the 2007 Tusculum College/Kiawah Island Intercollegiate, Saturday at Cougar Point Golf Course. Florida Southern holds a one-shot lead over defending four-time national champions (NCAA Division II) Rollins College (306) and Nova Southeastern University (306). Lindsey Bergeon led the Mocs with an intercollegiate record 71 and holds a three-shot lead over teammate Kim Ulander, who fired a 74 on Saturday. Pfeiffer University is in fourth place with 324, while Wingate University is fifth at 327. USC Upstate is sixth with 328, followed by Newberry College (329), Berry College (333), Tusculum (337), Lenoir-Rhyne College (346), Belmont Abbey College (350), Queens University of Charlotte (364), Mount Olive College (366), Lincoln Memorial University (368), Armstrong Atlantic State University (369), St. Andrews Presbyterian College (383), The Citadel (402) and Limestone College (407). Four players are tied for third place with 75, including Julia Miller (USC Upstate), Brittany Beltran (Pfeiffer), Marie-Pierre Bernier (Rollins) and Natile Lowe (Nova Southeastern). LMU is led by Katy Oliver who is tied for 38th with 86. Rachel Spurs is tied for 49th with 88. Millicent Chaney comes in at 73rd with a 96 and Sarah Oswalt comes in tied for 74th with a 98.
