Stapleton Signs With Lincoln Memorial To Play Women’s Golf

HARROGATE, TN – Lincoln Memorial University golf coach Travis Muncy announced Monday morning that Maria Stapleton (Baneberry, TN) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play women’s golf for the Lady Railsplitters with the beginning of the fall 2008 semester.

A product of nearby Jefferson County High School in Dandridge, Tennessee, Stapleton was an All-IMAC selection in 2006, named to the all-district team in 2006, a 2007 all-region selection and a member of the 2007 Tennessee Class AAA Girls State Champion squad.  “Maria is one of the most well rounded players that I have seen,” says Muncy.  “She will be a valuable asset to our program in 2008.”

In addition to her outstanding athletic achievement as a women’s high school golfer, Stapleton was also a member of the Beta Club and is an Honor Student at Jefferson County High School.

When she officially reports to campus in the fall of 2008 to begin her collegiate career, Stapleton will be majoring in Business.  She is the daughter of Dr. Steve and Elaine Stapleton and is the first women’s golf signee at LMU for the 2008-09 season.
