OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release October 4, 2006 Women’s Golf Places 5th at Tusculum Fall Classic Greeneville, TN – The Lincoln Memorial University women’s golf team made a 5th place showing in the Tusculum College Fall Classic held Monday and Tuesday at Link Hills Country Club in Greeneville, Tennessee. (Results) The Lady Railsplitters finished behind champion Tusculum College (630), Catawba College (635), Wingate University (650) and Lenoir-Rhyne College (680) by shooting a team total 686 for the two day affair. St. Andrews Presbyterian College (687), Mars Hill College (712), North Carolina Pembroke (734) and Presbyterian College (751) all finished behind Lincoln Memorial respectively. Lady Railsplitter newcomer Katy Oliver (Bournemouth, England) led the LMU charge by finishing 9th overall with scores of 79 and 82 for a two-day total 161, while veteran Rachel Spurs (Whitby, Ontario, Canada) finished 17th with a pair of 83’s for a final 166. Another newcomer to the LMU women’s golf program, Millicent Chaney tied for 31st in this weekend’s tournament with rounds of 81 and 97 for a 178, while Sarah Ross (Waveland, IN) shot a 181 with rounds of 90 and 91. Teammate Sarah Oswalt (Bluffton, IN) finished closely behind in a tie for 40th place with scores of 94 and 98 for a total 192. This weekend the Lady Railsplitters will travel to Dale Hollow State Park in Burkesville, Kentucky for the Lindsey Wilson Fall Invitational.
