LMU Women’s Golf Team Competes in Fall Invitational
TAZEWELL,
TN – The Lincoln Memorial University women’s golf team participated
Monday and Tuesday in the LMU Fall Invitational Tournament held at Woodlake
Golf Club in Tazewell, Tennessee.
The Lady Railsplitters finished second behind the
University of West Georgia who turned in a team score of 665 for the two-day
tournament. LMU finished with a total 772, 57 strokes back.
Lincoln Memorial University junior Rachel Spurs (Whitby,
Ontario, Canada) was the top Lady Railsplitter qualifier finishing in 2nd
place. Spurs turned in scores of 82 each day for a total 164, only three
strokes off the lead.
Lady Railsplitters Sarah Ross (Waveland, IN),
Christin Rhyne (Powell, TN) and Sarah Oswalt (Bluffton, IN)
finished in 6th and tied for 7th place respectively.
Ross turned in an 86 on Monday and a 96 on Tuesday for a final 182, while
Rhyne had an 87 and a 101, and Oswalt a 93 and a 95 to each finish tied for
7th with a 188.
As is the
case with the Railsplitter golf team, the LMU Fall Invitational marks the
end of the fall season for the Lincoln Memorial golf teams. Both will
resume place this spring in search of a Gulf South Conference Championship.
