LMU Women’s Tennis Blows Through King

BRISTOL, TN – The Lincoln Memorial University women’s tennis team defeated the Tornado of King College on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference tennis match held in Bristol, Tennessee.

The Lady Railsplitters rolled over the Tornado with a 7-2 win to advance to 5-5 on the season.  LMU’s only losses of the match came at No. 3 singles and in the No. 2 doubles match. 

Reining two-time South Atlantic Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week Kathleen Rollet (Bouge Chambalud, France) continued to dominate by defeating her opponent 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles match, while teammates Martina Rezic (Pula, Croatia), Rachel Redmond (Somerset, KY), Emily Osborne (Middlesboro, KY) and Mandy Mills (Tazewell, TN) were all victorious in singles play as well.

LMU won two of three doubles matches on Wednesday afternoon.  Rollet and Redmond won 8-0 over opponents Nerece Stoltz and Crystal Harwell at the No. 1 position, while Rezic and Mills were victorious in at the No. 3 doubles position, defeating King’s Natalie Walters and Susan Sutton 8-2.  LMU’s only loss in doubles play came at the No. 2 position when Sophie Denlinger (West Milton, OH) and Nicole Combs (Harrogate, TN) were defeated by King’s Marley Cutler and Triona Reilly 8-3.

The Lady Railsplitters will be in action again on March 19 when they host Tusculum College in a big South Atlantic Conference match-up.  The LMU women were originally supposed to play on March 14 against California of Pennsylvania but that match has been canceled due to rain forecast for the tri-state area.
