LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY Office of Sports Information Sports Release March 30, 2007 Eighth Ranked Florida Gulf Coast Defeats LMU 7-0, Wins 45th Game Of Season DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Florida Gulf Coast University, the eighth-ranked team in NCAA Division II, used a pair of homeruns and three extra-base hits to upend Lincoln Memorial 7-0 in the final game of Day One of the Ryan's Classic here Friday evening. Cheyenne Jenks and Natasha Johnson each blasted homeruns over the leftfield wall, combining to drive in four of the Eagles' runs on the night. Each colleceted a pair of hits in the victory. Brittany Walker went 3-for-3 to lead Lincoln Memorial at the plate, including hitting her 21st double of the season. Dana Frantz improved to 21-3 with the win for Florida Gulf Coast (45-3), while Kelly Click fell to 11-3 for Lincoln Memorial (24-13-1). The game wrapped up a day filled with big blasts and impressive pitching performances. The tournament featured eight homeruns, as well as a shutout performance on the mound by Frantz. The first batter of the tournament, Amanda Crumpler of King College, set the tone for the day when she hit the second pitch of the tournament over the right centerfield wall. Walker, of Lincoln Memorial, went 4-for-7 with a homerun for the day, while Jessica Skeels of North Georgia went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and four runs batted in for North Georgia. She also collected two doubles for the Saints in their only game of day one. Ashley Roberts of Augusta State went 3-for-3 in her game against King College, and went 4-for-5 with two runs and two runs batted in during her team's two games. The tournament will resume on Saturday with six games, starting at 10:00 a.m. when King College takes on Northern Kentucky University lock horns. The day will feature six games, with the last game slated to start at 8:00.
