Split With Alderson Broaddus Snaps LMU Win Streak

HARROGATE, TN – On Wednesday afternoon, the Lady Railsplitter softball team’s win streak of 10 games came to an end, as Lincoln Memorial Split a double-header with Alderson Broaddus College at home on the Dorothy Neely Field.

LMU won the first game 2-0 in their second defensive struggle in as many outings. The issue wasn’t decided until the bottom of the fifth inning when the Lady Railsplitters broke the scoring silence on an RBI single by sophomore Amanda Wampler (Powell, TN).

Lady Railsplitter ace Brittney Walker (Chattanooga, TN) moved to 9-2 on the year. Walker as usual went the distance, allowing three hits and no runs, while recording 10 strikeouts.

LMU’s win streak was ended in game-two when Alderson-Broaddus scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning and held off the Lady Railsplitters through the bottom of the seventh to come away with a 2-0 win of their own. Only Gina Grace (Placerville, CA), Kristin Hutchison (Benicia, CA) and Alisa Burk (Blaine, WA) were able to muster hits in game-two. Grace had the best outing of the three going two for three for the game.

Unfortunately, sophomore Kelly Click (Ashland, OH) got the loss for Lincoln Memorial. Click pitched a no hitter over seven innings with four walks and eight strikeouts but was forced to take the loss via errors. The loss drops Click to 1-2 on the season.

The LMU women will now prepare to travel to Greeneville, Tennessee for this weekend’s Tusculum College Tournament. The Lady Railsplitters will get another opportunity to face off against Alderson Broaddus following games with Virginia Intermont and Tusculum College.
