LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release September 29, 2006 Lady Railsplitters Overcome Presbyterian 3-1 Harrogate, TN – The Lady Railsplitters spotted Presbyterian the first goal of the game but rallied to score three stright goals to pull out the 3-1 win on Friday (Box score) Prebyterian (3-6) forward Claire Joyce scored on a breakaway goal after a long pass from teammate Ginny Wolfe only 7:57 in to the game. A little over six minutes later, LMU's Heloisa de Oliveira scored the equalizer with an spin move that put her past the defender 15 yards from the goal. LMU (6-4) then pulled out to a 2-1 lead at the 30:50 mark as Danielle Dos Santos found de Oliveira on a two versus two breakway with a soft touch pass that got de Oliveira open for the shot and the goal. Presbyterian mounted a furious comeback effort but could never get the ball past LMU keeper Stephanie Kwoka, who earned all three of her saves in the second half. With 50 seconds to go in regulation, Dos Santos took the ball from a Presbyterian defender and found a streaking Camilla Verissimo on a long pass to seal the LMU victory. LMU next starts a two game road swing against South Atlantic Conference competition as they play at Catawba on Oct. 4 and Mars Hill on Oct. 7. They will next be at home on Oct. 10 when they face Lenoir-Rhyne at 4 p.m.
