LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release March 22, 2007 Vanessa Santana Joins Lady Railsplitter Soccer Team
A resident of Miami, Florida, Santana played soccer both at John A. Ferguson High School and for the Hammocks Lightning Soccer Club. She was also a member of the Florida Olympic Developmental Program State Pool, and has been a member of the Dominican Republic National Team with a U-20 World Cup appearance under her belt. At 5’5”, Santana has played several positions during her career, including forward, midfielder and defense. Her multiple award winning seasons include FLUGSA League Champion, Dade League Champion, State Cup Top 16 and many others. She currently has 17 goals and 3 assists this season. Her ODP Coach Frankie Delgado praises her. “Vanessa is the real deal. She is athletic, smart, has excellent touch and speed and can do whatever she wants on the field. Coach D’Anna agrees. “Vanessa is a big time player and we are ecstatic to have her coming to LMU. She will bring instant added power to our offense and tons of athleticism.” The daughter of Leonardo and Clara Santana, Vanessa is undecided as to what major she will pursue while attending Lincoln Memorial University.
