Two More Sign With LMU Soccer

Sydni Bailey

Samantha Meek

HARROGATE, TN --  Head LMU Soccer Coach Helio D'Anna has obtained two more players and added them to the 2008 roster.  The latest signees are Sydni Bailey from Franklin, TN and Samantha Meek from Tampa, FL.

Bailey played prep at Battle Ground Academy where she was an all-state selection in 2007-08.  She also played club soccer for the Brentwood Pride and was in the ODP state pool.  A 5'1" midfielder, Sydni is the daughter of Tim and Suzy Bailey.  She will pursue a degree in business while attending Lincoln Memorial University.  Bailey’s high school coach Jan Browne stats, “Syd is an explosive and productive player.  Her knowledge and passion for the game has made her irreplaceable at our high school team.”  According to LMU Head Coach Helio D’Anna, “Syd is an extremely active midfielder.  She is quick and fast, and as tough as nails.  I can see her being one of the top wing players in our league. Needless to say we are excited to have her join our program at LMU.”

Meek played her prep soccer career at Vivian Gaither High School where she was all-conference, all-county and selected to represent the West Team in the Florida Athletic Coaches Association High School All-Star Tournament.  Her High School Coach George Fotopoulos stated, “Sam was one of the top high school players in Tampa this season.  Her technical ability and tactical awareness will no doubt make her one of the top freshmen in her league.”  Coach D’Anna adds, “Sam has terrific energy and attitude, both on and off the field.  She will blend right in with our style of play and will do great for us.” Meek a 5’3” forward is the daughter of Randy and Cindy Meek and is undecided as to what major she will pursue while attending Lincoln Memorial University.

The Lady Railsplitters will try to make a fourth trip in five years to the NCAA tournament when they take the field in 2008.
