Catawba and Lincoln Memorial Settle For 1-1 Tie

SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba and visiting Lincoln Memorial battled to a 1-1 tie in women’s soccer action on Wednesday night at Frock Field.  Catawba, ranked 25th in NCAA II, now stands at 9-1-2, while the Lady Railsplitters are 6-4-1. (Box score)

Catawba opened the scoring in the first half as Kelly Fearman (Alliston,
ONT) headed home a cross from McKenzie Burman (Rolesville, NC).  The 20th minute tally was the third on the season for the senior striker.

Catawba was unable to add an insurance goal and Lincoln Memorial was able to equalize on a penalty kick in the 88th minute.  Heloisa de Oliveira (
Campinas, Brazil) stepped up and delivered her 13th goal of the season.

The teams were unable to score in the overtime sessions.  de Oliveira had two chances for LMU in the final 10 minutes, but her first shot was wide and the second on a nice give-and-go was saved by Kathleen Blake (Greensboro, NC).  Catawba’s best chance came with about five minutes to play off the foot of Jenna Peeples (Longmont, CO), but her strike sailed just wide of the top corner.  Stephanie Kwoka (Johnson City , TN) made 10 saves for the Lady Railsplitters.
