Lenoir-Rhyne Women Shock Lady Railsplitters 

HARROGATE, TN – Although Lenoir-Rhyne College entered Tuesday’s game against the Lady Railsplitters with just two wins this season, it took only one goal to upend Lincoln Memorial and capture their third. (Box score)

The match got started like most the Lady Railsplitters have been involved in this year, with several opportunities for a goal.  On Tuesday, however, finding the back of the net was a real problem for the LMU as eight shots were denied by Bears goalkeeper Nicole Ley and several more either hit the post, or were high, or wide of the goal.

In any case, the Bears stunned the Lady Railsplitters by striking first at the 34:56 mark when Tara Learn scored unassisted for the only goal of the match.  Despite numerous opportunities in the second half, LMU could not convert and Lenoir-Rhyne pulled the upset for their third win of the year.

LMU goalkeeper Stephanie Kwoka (Johnson City, TN) recorded five saves for the game but also got credit for the loss, which is the Lady Railsplitters' fifth of the season. 

Now 7-5-1 overall, the LMU women will be in action again this Thursday when they play host to Spalding University.  The Lady Bears, now 3-10-1 on the year, will play host to Newberry College on Saturday in Hickory, North Carolina.
