Maryland Native Joins The LMU Women’s Soccer Team

HARROGATE, TN – Lincoln Memorial University Women’s Soccer Coach Helio D’Anna has added a player to the women’s roster for spring 2007. Lea Cataggio, of Aberdeen, MD has signed to be a part of the Lady Railsplitter program, beginning January 2007.

A 5’2” defender, Cataggio is transferring from Virginia Intermont College after helping her team make to the NAIA National Tournament with 15-7-0 record.

Over the past two years at VIC, Cataggio accumulated honors such as all- Conference, all-Region, and all-academic team. She was also an Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Week and an NAIA Region 12 Player of the Week performer last season.

Previously, while attending Havre de Grace High School in Maryland, she was an all-county Selection.  “We are very happy to add a talented player such as Lea before the fall season,” said D’Anna.  “Lea is capable of playing several positions and will add to our strong returning roster.”

The daughter of Joe Cataggio Jr., Lea is expected to continue her studies toward a degree in Kinesiology.  LMU’s soccer program will begin its first year as a member of the South Atlantic Conference in the fall of 2007.
