Railsplitter Soccer Team Moves To #17 Nationally

HARROGATE, TN – On the heels of wins this week over Shepherd University, Salem International and Spalding University, the Lincoln Memorial University men’s soccer team has advanced to #17 nationally in this week’s NSCAA/Adidas poll released Tuesday morning.

For the past two weeks the Railsplitters have been ranked at #19 despite having no losses on their 7-0-1 record.  In fact, the only blemish the Railsplitters have to date is a 1-1 tie with #10 nationally ranked Carson-Newman who was third in the nation when the match was played.

On Sunday September 24, the LMU men will again attempt to run a gauntlet of three games in six days with the idea of moving up in the national and regional rankings.  The task will begin with a road-match against West Virginia Tech and end with home meetings against Brevard and Presbyterian.

With eight matches left in the 2006 schedule and no conference tournament eligibility this year, the Railsplitters realize they must make the most of every opportunity they have to stay among the top teams in the NCAA Appalachian Region and in control of their own destiny for making NCAA post-season play.
