Lincoln Memorial Scores Late To Beat Anderson

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Leandro Pereira dribbled through the Anderson University defense and scored at the 87:11 mark to give Lincoln Memorial a 2-1 non-conference victory over the Trojans Tuesday night at Smethers Field.

The Railsplitters, 6-2 overall, scored first at the 28:31 mark when Nelson Pizarro connected on a one-timer after two high balls were bumped around in the box.
Anderson got the equalizer at 37:39 when Stuart Brunt executed a flip throw-in into the box that Jon Scott flicked into the Lincoln Memorial net with his head.
Anderson goalkeeper Preston Freeman made nine saves and was under pressure the entire match from the speedy Railsplitters.

Lincoln Memorial had two excellent chances before finally connecting on the winning goal. Pereira hit the post in the 55th minute, and Freeman made a save against Pizarro from point-blank range in the 64th minute.

Brent Cole made four saves in the Lincoln Memorial net to earn the victory.

Next up for the Railsplitters will be a home match against Brevard on Sept. 22.
