The Railsplitters got their first goal of the game from junior Nelson Pizzaro (Pembroke Pines, FL) at the 34:16 mark when he used teammates Leandro Pereira (Brasilia, Brazil) and Jon Williams (Memphis, TN) assist to give LMU the 1-0 advantage. After carrying the lead into the intermission, the Railsplitters needed very little time to find the back of the net again in the early minutes of the second half. This time Pereira played a little string music of his own when he was assisted by teammate and countryman Leonardo de Barros (Brasilia, Brazil) and hit the back of the net at 67:40. Leading 2-0, LMU broke West Virginia Wesleyan’s back in the seventy-ninth minute when sophomore Ian Richardson (North Lanarkshire, Scotland) scored his first collegiate goal with help from Pereira and Pizzaro to give Lincoln Memorial the final 3-0 margin. Now 1-0 on the year, the Railsplitters are scheduled to play Salem International on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. before traveling to Greenville, Tennessee next Wednesday to take on future South Atlantic Conference opponent Tusculum College.
