LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release May 3, 2007 LMU Soccer Adds Tennessean To The Roster
A 6’1” forward, Vandenhurk played his prep career at Heritage High School and for the Blount United Hammers, Nike Impact USA and the Inter Futbol Academy on the club level. According to club coach, Dave Goldschmitt, “Jimmy has a lot of strong attributes. His best are his touch and ball skills. He is an excellent dribbler and plays the game with passion.” Coach Helio D’Anna agrees, “Jimmy is strong, fast and should adjust well to college soccer. I see him following in the footsteps of an outgoing Tennessee native, Drew Payne very well.” As a junior, Vandenhurk scored 16 goals. So far this season, he has accumulated 14 goals and 4 assists. Throughout his high school career, Vandenhurk was named the Offensive Player of the Year in 2004 and in 2006 was named team MVP. Next season the LMU soccer team will compete for the first time in the South Atlantic Conference. The Railsplitters open the schedule on August 24 at home against the University of Charleston from West Virginia. -LMU- For additional comments please contact, |
