LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release March 13, 2007 New Faces For The Spring HARROGATE, TN – Although the Railsplitters had a busy season this fall, that didn’t stop Head Coach Helio D’Anna from continuing to look ahead to the 2007-08 class. As a result, six new players are being added to the roster this spring. They are, Jemele Juber, Jemal Talore, and Robel Moges all from Clarkston, Georgia, Hudson Pereira and Ivor Meredith, from Brazil, and Martin Benitez, from Lexington, North Carolina. Juber, Talore, and Moges are products of the strong Ethiopian immigrant community of the Atlanta area. They played in the Ethiopian community leagues in Atlanta and attended local high schools. Pereira is a native of Jacarei, Brazil and attended the University of Jacarei and comes to LMU as a transfer. Meredith also comes as a transfer from Sao Paulo’s University of Morumbi. Both played futsal (international indoor soccer) at local clubs. Benitez attended and played at Lexington High School in North Carolina. “Our roster is already strong and these players coming in add to it,” says Coach D’Anna. “Practices will be competitive and the players will be challenged to win their spots in the starting line up. Above all, these are good kids with great attitudes who are serious about their soccer as well as their grades. We welcome them to the LMU program with open arms.” Spring practices have started with conditioning and skill work-outs and all players have in mind that the stakes are high. In 2006 the LMU men’s soccer team finished the season ranked fourth in the nation with an appearance in the NCAA Division II National Tournament Final Four. -LMU- For additional comments please contact, |
