LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release October 29, 2007 LMU Soccer Teams Capture 2007 SAC Regular Season Titles & Will Host First Rounds Of Conference Tournament HARROGATE, TN – The Lincoln Memorial University men’s and women’s soccer teams both received good news over the weekend. Although the men’s team was tied by Mars Hill (1-1) and lost to Wingate over the weekend (3-0), the Railsplitters still managed to clinch the league regular season title with a record of 5-1-1. The Railsplitters now play host to Catawba College (1-6) in South Atlantic Conference first round action on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at home on the Les Gibbs Field. The winner will advance to the Food Lion SAC Tournament Final-Four to be held November 2-4 at the Manchester Meadows Soccer Complex in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Admission to Tuesday’s first round tournament action is $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for children under 12 years of age and students with a valid ID. The women’s team finished the regular season schedule on a strong not last week with wins over Mars Hill College (2-1) and Wingate University (3-2). The Lady Railsplitters will host Wingate again this Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. on the Les Gibbs Field for the right to advance to this weekend’s Food Lion SAC Final-Four in Rock Hill, South Carolina as well. The Lady Railsplitters enter their second meeting of the season with Wingate boasting a conference record of 5-2 while the Bulldogs are 1-6 in league play. The Lincoln Memorial women will be the #1 seed in the tournament as Wingate will represent the #8 seed. Admission to the match will be the same as Tuesday’s men’s game with a $5.00 admission for adults and $2.00 admission for children under 12 and students with a valid ID. -LMU- For additional comments please contact, |
