Lincoln Memorial University Soccer Team Prepare To Host First Round of SAC Soccer Tournament

HARROGATE, TN – On Friday afternoon, the Lincoln Memorial University men’s and women’s soccer teams both received word they would be hosting the first rounds of the South Atlantic Conference Soccer Tournaments.

The Lincoln Memorial University men’s team will be first on the agenda and have been given a #1 seed in the tournament.  The Railsplitters (13-2-1, 5-0-1) will play Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. and will host #8 seed Catawba College (6-11, 1-6).

Although the Railsplitters still have a regular season match remaining this weekend with Wingate University, the LMU men have already clinched the SAC Regular Season Championship which helped them earn the #1 seed in the tournament.  The Railsplitters are also currently ranked as the #4 team in the country in NCAA Division II soccer and #1 in the NCAA Appalachian Region.

The Lady Railsplitters (11-4, 4-2) will play on Wednesday against a yet to be determined opponent.  Due to the parity in the South Atlantic Conference women’s soccer race, many of the league’s teams aren’t yet sure what seed they will be given or even who they will play.  In any case, whomever the Lady Railsplitters paired against, Wednesday’s match will be at 3:00 p.m. on the Les Gibbs Field.  The LMU women should find out who they will play by the end of the weekend.

As part of the South Atlantic Conference Food Lion Soccer Tournament, the admission for both matches will be $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for students and children.
