Rounding Up The Men’s Soccer Roster

Andrew Bayerl

Ross Buckley

Peter Fraser

HARROGATE, TN -- Head Soccer Coach Helio D'Anna is putting the final touches on his men’s soccer roster for 2008.  Three players are being added to the already strong roster: Ross Buckley (Bury, England), Peter Fraser (Kanata, Canada) and Andrew Bayerl (Milford, OH).

Buckley is a 5’10” left midfielder with plenty of soccer experience.  He developed as a player through the Manchester City and Burnley Academies.  He was the captain of the Greater Manchester school teams, as well as a ESFA regional squad player.  He also played high school at Holy Cross where he won 19 games and finished undefeated, winning the North West League.  His coach Lawrence Nicholson states, “Ross plays with a composure and intelligence that belies his age.  His control and dribbling are excellent and I particularly like the vision and accuracy of his passing.”  Ross is the son of Jeff and Mary Buckley and plans to major in Kinesiology at Lincoln Memorial University.

Fraser is a 5’10” midfielder, and played club soccer for the West Carleton Talons as well as for the Soccer Prospect Academy where he was a team captain.  Over the past several years, he accumulated important wins and honors, culminating with the 2007 ERSL U-17 Regional Championship.  He also played in the Ottawa Carleton Futsal League.  His Academy coach, Jimmy Hamrouni states, “the more one watches Peter play, the more obvious it becomes that he is a complete player.  In addition to strong skills with the ball, on and off the field, Peter is a leader and a hard worker.  He sets an excellent example and is a coach's player.”  Peter is the son of Peter and Heather Fraser and will pursue Kinesiology at LMU.

Bayerl is a 5’11” midfielder who played both at Milford High School as well as the Ohio Elite Academy.  He has been in the SYL ODP National Camp and was in the Ohio South ODP for four years, making the regional camp twice.  His coach, Brian Croston states, “Andy was the anchor in the midfield of our team.  He plays with aggressive confidence and loves to take the long range shot.”  The son of Diane Henly and Chris Bayerl, Andrew will pursue pre-med at LMU.

Coach D’Anna is enthused about the upcoming year.  “Anyone looking at the returning roster and at the list of incoming players can’t help but to be impressed.  We are going to be so deep, versatile, and strong.  I can’t wait to see all these great players on the field.”

The Railsplitters will start pre-season on August 9, 2008.
