LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release December 12, 2005 Two LMU Brazilians Earn All-American Honors HARROGATE, TN – Lincoln Memorial University soccer players Frederico Moojen (Balneario, Camburiu, Santa Catarina, Brazil) and Danielle Dos Santos (Campinas Brazil) were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-American Teams released recently. Moojen, a 6’1” sophomore was named NSCAA All-American Third Team and led the conference in goals scored for the second season (25), while also leading the nation the past two years. He also helped the Railsplitters achieve a 15-3-1 season record that included Lincoln Memorial University’s first Gulf South Conference Men’s Soccer Championship. Dos Santos, a 5’7” freshman forward scored 24 goals to lead the LMU women this year to the University’s first GSC Women’s Soccer Championship since 1997 and their second consecutive NCAA South Region Tournament appearance. While Dos Santos finished second in the conference in goals scored behind West Georgia’s Sara Sohlberg (27), she was able to finish seventh nationally in only her first year of collegiate soccer en route to a 16-3-1 season record. In 2006 the LMU soccer teams will no longer compete for the Gulf South Conference Championship however, the competition won’t get any easier. Lincoln Memorial University will be moving to the South Atlantic Conference which boasts some of the top men’s and women’s soccer teams in the country including Carson-Newman College, Catawba College and Tusculum College -LMU- For additional comments please contact, |
