British Player Joins the LMU Women’s Soccer Team

HARROGATE, TN – Lincoln Memorial University Women’s Soccer Coach Helio D’Anna has added one more piece to his recruiting puzzle.  Leanne Harkness, of Leamington Spa – England has joined the roster for 2006.

A 5’5” defender/midfielder, Harkness has played both with the Leamington Lions Ladies and the Henley-In-Arden soccer teams.  The daughter of Graham and Rosie Harkness, Leanne attended Myton School in the U.K.

Coach D’Anna said of Harkness, “Leanne can play a number of positions including defense, outside mid, and defensive mid.  That is very exciting considering the needs of our team next season.  She will bring a different background and dimension to our roster and we are thrilled to have her.”

Harkness is also a very strong student and will be the recipient of an academic scholarship at Lincoln Memorial.  She plans on pursuing athletic training while attending Lincoln Memorial University.

The LMU women’s soccer team has had a connection with the United Kingdom in former LMU Assistant Coach Ana Bruni who currently plays semi professional soccer in Bath England for the Keyshamtown FC.  Her team is currently in first place in the South West Combination making a strong run to be elevated into the Premiere League.
