LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release April 19, 2006 Florida Product to Play Soccer at LMU
A 5’6” defender, Varsalona will graduate in May from American High School, a soccer powerhouse in Miami. Throughout her high school career, the prep star also played for two top clubs in the area, Kendall Hammocks and the Miami Surf. Her high school coach Rosana Lopes stated, “Cat is a very persistent and skilled player. Her strongest points include being vocal, her read of the game and her defensive anticipation. She is also strong in the air and plays with both feet.” The daughter of Charles and Ana Varsalona, Catalina will be an impact player according to Coach D’Anna. “I am extremely happy to add Catalina to our team. She is a perfect fit for us, especially when you consider that we graduated Cassie Castelli and Brianne Arsenault from last year’s squad. Catalina can not only defend, she can also produce offensively. She had 6 goals and 20 assists in high school.” The Lady Railsplitters open the 2006 schedule on August 24th playing host to Union College at 2:00 PM on the Les Gibbs Field.-LMU- For additional comments please contact, |
