Simerly to Play Soccer at LMU

HARROGATE, TN – Soccer Coach Helio D’Anna has a new player joining the Lincoln Memorial University women’s soccer roster, Katie Simerly, of Morristown, Tennessee.

A 5’6” standout defender and midfielder, Simerly is graduating from Morristown West High School where she was first team all conference and all region.  She also played club soccer for SMSC 88 Force and won a state title in 2004.

“Katie will fit in so well with us,” stated Coach D’Anna.  “She is obviously a very good player but she also has a tremendous personality and desire to play.”

The daughter of Mike and Amy Simerly, Katie also has an impressive resume off the field.  She is the Spanish Club VP and participates in the Republican Club, FCA, Young Life, and Beta Club.  She will also receive an academic scholarship at Lincoln Memorial University, while she will pursue a degree in Physical Education.

Katie and the rest of the Lady Railsplitters will open the 2006 schedule August 24, when they host Union College at home on the Les Gibbs Field.
