LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release September 14, 2005 Railsplitters Crack Top-25 HARROGATE – For the first time this season, the Lincoln Memorial University men’s soccer team has broken into the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Top-25. The poll was released late yesterday afternoon with the Railsplitters making their debut at #19 in this week’s release. Following this weekend’s neutral site victory over #24 ranked Nova Southeastern University, the Railsplitters are 1-0 in NCAA South Region play and boast an overall record of 5-0 heading into this weekend’s road match with Oakland City University. Last season the LMU men’s soccer team won their first eleven matches before suffering a setback at the hands of Christian Brothers University on October 17, of 2004. With that in mind, the Railsplitters haven’t been beaten in the month of September since the 13th of September 2003 when they lost to Catawba College. Having already played five road games to begin the 2005 campaign, the Railsplitters will continue their travels until the end of the month when they host Ouachita Baptist University on September 30th. This weekend’s match with Oakland City University, a match with Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi on the 23rd and a road grudge match against defending 2004 Gulf South Conference Tournament Champion Montevallo on the 25th lie between now and the Railsplitters' home-opener.-LMU- For additional comments please contact, |
