#10 Bears Blank #17 Lincoln Memorial
CONWAY, AR - Sophomore Matt Marlin led the Central
Arkansas offense with two goals in two assists in the #10 Bears' 5-0 shutout
of #17 Lincoln Memorial on Sunday afternoon. With the win, UCA improves to
11-1-1 overall and takes over first place in the Gulf South Conference with
a 5-0 mark. The Railsplitters fall to 11-2 and 5-2 in league play. Head
coach Chad Flanders' team also improves to 4-1 against ranked opponents this
season.
Sophomore Jimmy Nummy scored his fifth goal of the year in the 20th minute
off of passes from Marlin and junior Nick Hankins. Marlin extended the lead
to 2-0 with a score in the 25th minute off a Hankins pass.
After halftime, Marlin found Hankins who netted his seventh scored of the
season in the 52nd minute. Two minutes later Marlin headed in his
team-leading 11th goal of the year on a pass from junior Dillon Vedral. The
Bears sealed the win with a goal by junior Parker Ferebee off a sophomore
Dan Foerster assist.
UCA outshot LMU 18-8 for the match.
Sophomore Ian Goodman recorded six saves in the win for the Bears, while
sophomore Brent Cole stopped three shots for the Railsplitters.
