LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release October 2, 2005 Sweet Revenge! HARROGATE – The words sweet revenge best describe Sunday’s 5-0 Railsplitter win over Christian Brothers University. Last season the Buccaneers handed the LMU men their only loss of the conference regular season, and to make matters worse they did it in Harrogate. (Box score) On Sunday however, the Railsplitters got started somewhat in reverse with senior defenseman Marko Skuletic (Podgorica, Montenegro) scoring unassisted at the 14:34 mark. The goal was Skuletic’s first of the season. LMU and CBU then battled in a defensive struggle over the next twenty-one minutes until Railsplitter junior Diogo Silvy (Santa Catarina, Brazil) used a Frederico Moojen (Balneario, Brazil) pass to break the silence and give LMU a 2-0 lead which they took into the half. Following the intermission, the Railsplitters were again slow in getting started offensively. However, when LMU turned up the heat, the net began blazing. Sophomore Frederico Moojen picked up a hat-trick in less than fourteen minutes by scoring three goals on assists by Diogo Silvy, Claudio Rico (Jacarei City, Brazil) and Leonardo de Barros (Brasilia, Brazil) for the final 5-0 score. The Railsplitters now have the entire week to prepare for next Friday’s conference match with arch rival West Florida. The two teams will square off on the Les Gibbs Field at 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time followed by the women’s match which is set for a 3:00 p.m. start. -LMU- For additional comments please contact, |
