HARROGATE, TN – Lincoln Memorial University soccer players Frederico Moojen (Santa Catarina, Brazil), Diogo Silvy (Santa Catarina, Brazil) and Marko Skuletic (Podgorica, Montenegro) have been named to the 2005 Gulf South Conference All-Academic Team and GSC Honor Roll.

The GSC All-Academic team is selected by faculty athletics representatives and sports information directors around the conference who evaluate a student-athlete’s civic, fraternal, academic and athletic achievement from the most recent season.  In order to qualify for this award, the student athlete must possess a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher, be a returning athlete having played at least one year at the institution and have been a significant contributor to their athletic team.  The Gulf South Conference Honor roll is an award given to member institution athletes that earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher while lettering in their respective sport and is open to all participants on the squad.

Moojen, a two-year starter for the Railsplitters, led the nation for the second consecutive year in goals scored per game (25), while leading the Railsplitters to their first ever Gulf South Conference Tournament Championship.  Silvy, a three-year starter for Lincoln Memorial, moved to defensive midfield this season and still notched four goals and handed out a team-high ten assists to help the Railsplitters achieve a 15-3-1 record this year.

Moojen and Silvy were both named First Team All-Gulf South Conference this season, to the GSC All-Tournament Team following the championship game last November in Pensacola, Florida and received First Team NSCAA All-South Region honors.  Moojen was named GSC Tournament MVP and became Lincoln Memorial University’s most recently student athlete to be named All-American when he was named 2005 NSCAA Third Team All-American.

Skuletic, the only four-year starter on the squad, earns GSC All-Academic Team honors for the second consecutive year.  His defensive play this season was instrumental in the Railsplitters capturing the program’s first Gulf South Conference Tournament Championship which included seven shutouts.  Usually looked at as the Railsplitters' last defender on the field, Skuletic still managed to score one goal and earn one assists this season.

The Railsplitters lose three players from this year’s championship team including Moojen, Skuletic and two-year letterman Marcel Simo.  The 2006 LMU men’s soccer team will be competing in the South Atlantic Conference for the first time when they kick-off the season in late August.
