LMU Cross Country Wins Last Meet of Regular Season

BREVARD, NC – The Lincoln Memorial University cross country teams dominated the field en route to capturing first place in the Brevard College Invitational last Friday.

On the women's side, Cherie Kern (Knoxville, Tennessee) took first place by almost 11 seconds, finishing with a time of 20:45.4.  The Lady Railsplitters also took sixth through ninth place, with Emily Burke (Ewing, Virginia), Helena Sokolova (Kosice, Slovakia), Michelle Ratliff (Jonesborough, Tennessee) and Jennifer Ely (Jonesville, Virginia) finishing in that order.  Rounding out the field of 46 were Deirde Ratliff (Jonesborough, Tennessee) in 14th, Kathleen Rollet (Bougé Chambalud, France) in 19th, Heather Wice (Bean Station, Tennessee) finishing 21st and Ginny Bumpus (Hendersonville, Tennessee) coming in 39th.  As a team, the Lady Railsplitters finished first out of five teams with 27 points.

The men’s team also finished first out of the seven teams running with a total of 21 points.  LMU’s Ted Johnson (Neenah, Wisconsin) finished second overall, while teammates Mark Paulson (Neenah, Wisconsin), Jeremy Donahue (Sevierville, Tennessee), Josh Armentrout (Jonesborough, Tennessee) and Kyle Henderson (Lyn, Ontario) finished in fourth, fifth, seventh and eighthDwayne Stafford (Jonesville, Virginia) came in at 12th, Cameron Shelton (Gray, Tennessee) ended up 21st and Peter Kurhajec (Zilina, Slovakia) finished 29th out of the 47 runners in the race.

Next up for the LMU harriers will be the NCAA Southeast Regional Meet on November 4 at Wingate, North Carolina.
