OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release October 8, 2007 Railsplitters Kings Of The Mountain Top Classic, Lady Railsplitters Finish Second LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, GA – The Lincoln Memorial University men’s and women’s cross country teams traveled Lookout Mountain, Georgia south of Chattanooga, Tennessee on Saturday to participate in the Mountain Top Classic, hosted by Covenant College. The Railsplitters emerged as the winners of the meeting, placing five of their runners inside the top-10. LMU’s Ted Johnson (Winneconne, WI) finished 2nd in the 8K race, crossing the finish line in 27:58.57. Also earning top-10 honors were Railsplitters Jeremy Donahue (Sevierville, TN) who finished 3rd in 29:28.98, Mark Paulson (Neenah, WI) who was 6th in 30:05.18, Josh Armentrout (Jonesborough, TN) was finished 7th in 30:09.40 and Kyle Henderson (Lyn, Ontario, Canada) who came in 9th in 30:39.09. LMU’s Peter Kurhajec (Zilina, Slovakia) placed 22nd in 32:41.05, while Andras Pauko (Budapest, Hungary) was 26th in 33:31.65. In the women’s 5K race, LMU senior Michelle Ratliff (Jonesborough, TN) finished 3rd to lead the Lady Railsplitters. Ratliff cross the finish line in 21:36.50, while local product Jennifer Ely (Jonesville, VA) turned in one of her best finishes of the fall by finishing the race in 22:23.50 to take 11th place. On Ely’s heels was senior Kathleen Rollet (Bouge Chambalud, France). Rollet finished 12th in 22:34.41. LMU junior Emily Burke (Ewing, VA) who continues to run with an injury completed the race by coming in 15th in 22:48.77. LMU’s Jessica Brandes (Maryville, TN) and Deidre Ratliff (Jonesboro, TN) were 20th and 21st respectively. Brandes ran the race in 23:23.50, while Ratliff came in at 23:41.20. LMU soccer player turned cross country runner Lindsay Parda (Melbourne, FL) was 36th in Saturday’s race with a time of 25:26.76, while senior Ginny Bumpus (Hendersonville, TN) was 53rd in 30:16.06). Both LMU cross country teams have only this weekend’s homecoming Railsplitter 5K before they depart for the South Atlantic Conference Championship on October 20 in Salisbury, North Carolina. Aside from trying to capture their first ever SAC titles, both teams will also by vying for a spot in the upcoming NCAA regionals. -LMU-
