Railsplitters Overcome First Half For First Road Win Of The Year

Pembroke, NC – The Lincoln Memorial University men’s basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak Friday evening and picked up their first road victory of the year with a 64-52 win over UNC-Pembroke. (Box score)

Throughout the first half the LMU men allowed the Braves to dictate the tempo of the game and were forced to play catch-up basketball for most of the first twenty minutes of play, trailing 29-27 at the half.

As the second half got underway, the adjustments the Railsplitters made in the locker room at the half began to take effect on UNC-Pembroke and LMU was able to extend the lead to double figures down the stretch.

Artavius Mitchell (Chicago, IL) had possibly his best game in an LMU uniform.  Mitchell finished the night with 19 points and 4 rebounds in 29 minutes on the floor.  Teammate David Lopez (Tucson, AZ) added 16 and Chris Williams (Fort Washington, MD) had 12.

The Railsplitters, now 5-3 on the year advance to the final game of the classic on Saturday against Mount Olive College at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time.  Mount Olive won its’ first game of the classic against Chowan College.  The winner of Saturday’s game will be declared the champion of the classic.
