Railsplitters Suffer First Loss to Brevard College

BREVARD, NC – The Lincoln Memorial University men’s basketball team fell from the ranks of the unbeaten Tuesday evening with a 73-66 loss to host Brevard College in Brevard, North Carolina.  The Tornados avenged a 25 point November 28th loss to Lincoln Memorial with three-point shooting and by controlling the tempo of the game.

Railsplitter senior Joplin Johnson (Chicago, IL) and freshman Beau Brown (Athens, TN) carried most of the offensive load for Lincoln Memorial.  Johnson led LMU both in scoring and rebounding, recording 16 points and pulling 8 boards, while Brown added another 15 in the losing effort.  Senior David Lopez (Tucson, AZ) was the only other Railsplitter player to score double figures.  Lopez scored 10 points, all of which came in the second half.

The Lincoln Memorial men will be in action again this Saturday when they travel to Columbia, South Carolina to take on Benedict College of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.  Tip-off for Saturday’s game is set for 7:00 p.m.
