HARROGATE, TN Freshman Beau Brown (Athens, TN) had a career night and near record-setting performance from three-point range to help the Railsplitters pick up the 87-52 win over Brevard on Tuesday. (Box score)

Brown went 8-14 from behind the arc and finished with 26 points on the evening.  The 8 treys are one shy of the school record and were part of a team total of 14 for the game.

The scoring started early and often as LMU went from trailing 6-5 with 16:44 to go in the half to leading 22-9 only 3:50 later.  The Railsplitters then pushed the lead out to 42-23 at the intermission and never looked back as they led by as much as 44 points before finishing the night with a 82-57 total.

Brevard (1-4) was led by freshman Jonathan Witson (Clyde, NC) with 24 points.  Brian Davison (Riva MD) led Brevard on the boards with seven.

LMU (3-0) saw four players score in double figures, led by Brown's 26 points.  David Lopez (Tuscon, AZ) also had a good night from long range, hitting six treys en route to scoring 19 points. Chicago natives Artavius Mitchell and Joplin Johnson scored 12 points and ten points respectively to round out the double-figure scoring.  Johnson also had a double-double with his game-high ten rebounds.  For the game, LMU won the battle of the boards 39-31.

Brevard will take part in the Embry Riddle college classic this weekend before hosting LMU on Dec. 5.

The Railsplitters will next host Simmons College on Nov. 30 before starting a six-game road swing against Brevard on Dec. 5.  Their next home appearance will also be their first-ever South Atlantic Conference home tilt when they host Wingate on Jan. 6.
