LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release November 18, 2006 LMU Rallies To Defeat King 74-71 HARROGATE, TN – The Lincoln Memorial University Railsplitter basketball team overcame a 13 point deficit to pull out a hard-fought 74-71 win on Saturday. (Box score) After pulling out to a 6-2 lead with 16:05 left in the half, The Railsplitters could not find an answer for King's perimeter shooting and allowed King to put together an 26-11 run over the next ten minutes and move out to a 28-15 lead. The Railsplitters then began to chip away at the lead, eventually going into the locker room down 35-29 at the half. The first five minutes of the second half saw LMU come out with a 17-4 run of their own to grab a 46-39 lead. King tried several times to regain the lead but to no avail as the Railsplitters escaped with the 74-71 victory. King (3-1) was led by RaShaun Reeves with 21 points. Torrington Cox scored 18 points and Nick Pasqua added in 15 points in the loss. Cox also led the team on the boards with seven. LMU (2-0) saw four players score in double figures, led by Joplin Johnson (Chicago, IL) with a game-high 21 points. Chris Williams (Fort Washington, MD) scored 14, Beau Brown (Athens, TN) scored 13 and Kai Wells (Memphis, TN) scored 10 points for the Railsplitters. Wells also led LMU on the boards with six rebounds. For the game, LMU out-rebounded King 36-24. The Railsplitters will next host Brevard College in a doubleheader with the women on Nov. 28.
