Schertz & His Staff Go To Work In The Paint

HARROGATE, TN – On Tuesday afternoon, Lincoln Memorial University men’s basketball Head Coach Josh Schertz and his staff received a National Letter of Intent from 6’8” sophomore transfer Rob Sikes.

Sikes comes to the Lincoln Memorial University men’s basketball program from the University of North Carolina Wilmington where he played his freshman season.

Originally from Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Sikes is the first true big-man Schertz has signed since taking over the program.  “Rob is a guy we are very excited about,” says Schertz.  “He has tremendous size, great hands, and a very high basketball IQ.  He played behind some tremendous players at UNCW this past season and got to practice against them on a daily basis.  Rob will make an immediate impact on our program, and as good a player as he is, he is an even better student and person.”

Before signing with UNCW, Sikes averaged 23 points and 11 rebounds per game during his senior year at St. Martin High School in Mississippi.  While on the prep level, Sikes was named Mississippi Press Area Player-of-the-Year, ranked by Magnolia Preps as one of Mississippi’s top players, and was a two-time conference offensive MVP in Region 7-4A.

Born December 1, 1988, Sikes is originally from Memphis, Tennessee and will be majoring in Business at Lincoln Memorial University and will minor in Computer Science.  He is the son of Robin and Gloria Sikes.
