HARROGATE, TN – You could say the Railsplitters were defeated by Presbyterian College Wednesday night due to the Blue Hose three point shooting, or it might have been because LMU only had eight players dressed out due to the suspension of three players last week for team rules violations.  Whatever the reason, Presbyterian stayed near the top of the South Atlantic Conference race with a 73-57 win over Lincoln Memorial and added to what has become a frustrating three-game losing skid. (Box score)

PC controlled the tempo for the entire contest, only trailing on three occasions.  Perimeter shooting proved to be the most potent weapon, as the Blue Hose knocked down 13-30 shots behind the arc to pull away from the Railsplitters early.  Rebounding was another contributing factor in the game.  Presbyterian dominated the boards 48 to 33 en route to the Blue Hose fifteenth win of the year and their eight SAC victory.

LMU’s Beau Brown (Athens, TN) led all scorers with 22 points, while teammate Delroy Burke (St. Vincent, West Indies) came in off the bench to score 15 for the Railsplitters.  Lincoln Memorial’s only other player in double figures was senior Artavius Mitchell (Chicago, IL) who finished with 10.

Presbyterian was able to move to 15-7 overall and 8-3 in the conference with a balanced scoring attack.  Pat Kiscaden came off the bench to lead the Blue Hose with 14 points, while Grant Herron and Drew Biggs each scored 12 and Bryan Bostic 11 to capture the schools first win ever over LMU in men’s basketball.

Having lost their last three games, the Railsplitters are now 11-10 overall and 5-6 in the conference heading into this weekend’s home match-up with Mars Hill College.  Both LMU and Mars Hill will be trying to bounce back after Wednesday night losses in league play.  The Lions lost to Carson-Newman to hand the Eagles their first conference win of the year.  Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m. in the Turner Arena.
