LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release February 6, 2008 Railsplitters Outlast Pioneers For First SAC Victory
HARROGATE, TN – Lincoln Memorial trailed throughout most of the first half of Wednesday night’s game with Tusculum College before taking the lead with 4:02 remaining in the first stanza and carrying it into the final buzzer to pick up their first South Atlantic Conference victory of the year with a 70-64 margin. (Box score) Although the victory didn’t move the Railsplitters out of eighth place in the conference standings, it did get the monkey off LMU’s back from being the only team in the league without a conference victory. Railsplitter sophomore Beau Brown (Athens, TN) led all scorers with 23 points, while teammate Terry Delaney (Murfreesboro, TN) finished with 19 points and led LMU on the glass with nine rebounds. Freshman Ryan Whitaker (Pineville, KY) came off the bench to contribute 13 points one the way to LMU’s first conference win as did junior Wadner Joseph (Miami, FL) who finished the game with 11. Tusculum was led by Jordan Lear and Lavonti Jeter who both chipped in 16 points for the game. Jeter finished with a game-high 13 rebounds to take top honors on the glass. Also earning double figures for the Pioneers was Kyle Moore who came in off the bench to contribute 15. The Railsplitters improve to 7-14 on the season and 1-8 in South Atlantic Conference play while Tusculum falls to 8-13 overall and 2-7 in the conference. Lincoln Memorial will step out of conference for the final time this weekend when they travel to Brevard, North Carolina to take on future South Atlantic Conference opponent Brevard College in an afternoon game that gets underway at 4:00 p.m. -LMU- For additional
