Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Basketball Pulls Away From Lincoln Memorial, 77-51

Hickory, NC – The Lenoir-Rhyne College Men’s Basketball Team (12-3, 5-0) remained undefeated in the South Atlantic Conference as it pulled away from Lincoln Memorial University (5-11, 0-5) for a 77-51 win Saturday evening at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium. (Box score)

L-R Junior forward Elliott McDowell (Canton, N.C.) came off the bench to score a team-high 23 points as the Bears improved to 26-1 in its last 27 South Atlantic Conference Regular Season home contests.

Emmanuel Njomo (Fairfax, Va.) led all scorers with 28 points for Lincoln Memorial while Terry Delaney (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) added 17 points despite the loss.

Lenoir-Rhyne ended the first half with a 28-8 run for a 17-point advantage at intermission (43-26).

Although Lincoln Memorial tried to rally in the second half, the Railsplitters could not get any closer than nine points the rest of the way.

After cutting the margin to 53-44 with 11:47 remaining, the Bears put the game away with a 16-2 run culminated with a lay-up from junior forward Donte Watson (Fayetteville, N.C.) with 4:56 left to give L-R a 69-46 lead.

Lenoir-Rhyne, which is alone atop the SAC standings, shot 56 percent (30-of-54) from the field.

L-R next begins a three-game league road swing on Saturday, January 26, at 8 p.m., in Jefferson City, Tenn., against Carson-Newman. Lincoln Memorial next plays at Catawba in Salisbury, N.C., on Wednesday beginning at 8 p.m.
