LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release February 13, 2006 Recent Road Swing Unkind to Railsplitters VALDOSTA, GA – After a poor showing in the first half of Saturday night’s game with the University of West Florida, the Railsplitters showed no signs of unloading their early game slump Monday evening when they trailed 47-21 at the end of the first half and eventually lost 82-67 loss to Valdosta State. (Box score) The loss to VSU is Lincoln Memorial’s third consecutive conference loss and stacks the deck heavily against the Railsplitters getting in next months Gulf South Conference Tournament to be held in Tupelo, Mississippi with North Alabama, #14 nationally ranked Alabama-Huntsville and the University of West Georgia still on the regular season schedule. Junior forward Johnny Martin (Detroit, MI) led the LMU attack Monday evening. Martin scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to finish the evening with a double-double, while teammate Kenneth Fox (Lexington, KY) also had a big night finishing with 18 points. The perimeter is where LMU hurt the most against the Blazers. The Railsplitters were scoreless, shooting a dismal 0-13 from the outside, the first time this season the LMU men haven’t hit at least one three in a game. The Railsplitters will play their last road games of the year next Saturday and Monday night when they travel to North Alabama and the University of Alabama-Huntsville. The LMU men will complete regular season play on February 25, when they play host to Ed Murphy and the Braves of the University of West Georgia on senior night in the Tex Turner Arena.-LMU- For additional
