UWG Returns Home In Style, Beats 'Splitters

CARROLLTON, GA -- After a long, tough road trip that featured games against two top-25 teams, the Braves returned to the HPE Building Saturday night to an offensive explosion, blasting Lincoln Memorial 99-77.  (Box score)

It didn't take long for the offense to kick into high gear, as West Georgia scored 11 straight points in the first 3:20 of the game and used that run to open up a 22-8 lead at the 12:10 mark of the first half.

The Braves' offense kept on rolling, seemingly quietly building to a 50-28 lead at halftime.

After the half, Michael Ford turned on the afterburners, scoring 20 of his game-high 30 points in the second period.

Antonio Shaw had yet another solid night at the office, scoring 16 points and ripping down 10 rebounds for his seventh double-double this season and 11th of his career.

Four other Braves scored in double figures tonight, led by Jonathan Smith's 14 points and seven assists. Sam Richardson poured in 11, as did Jake McCartney and Michael McCowan had 10 points. For McCartney, it was his first game in double-figures as a Brave.

The Railsplitters were led by Johnny Martin with 25 points and eight rebounds.  Ronnie Jones chipped in 17 for LMU.

West Georgia is now 14-5 on the year and 4-3 in the GSC East. LMU falls to 5-14 overall and 3-4 in conference play.
