Sports Release February 28, 2008 LMU Baseball Holds Area Youth Coaches Clinic
The clinic was held in an effort to reach out into the local baseball community and to get involved in the lives of young people, and the people who coach them. Thursday’s main points of emphasis were to help coaches and parents learn various techniques including, teaching the fundamentals of the game properly, such as throwing, catching, hitting and pitching, base running, organizing and planning practices and stressing the importance of teamwork. During the two hour session, Sziksai explained these topics while members of the LMU baseball team demonstrated techniques that are used every day in the college and professional ranks of baseball. Sziksai is entering his fifth season as head coach of the Railsplitter baseball team and his second as a full member of the South Atlantic Conference. Presently, the Railsplitters are 10-9 on the year and 2-3 in league play with road games this weekend against North Greenville University and Brevard College. -LMU- For additional
