International
Studies
International Studies (the
Japanese Program) at LMU has been an important,
longstanding relationship for many years. Over 4,000
students from the Kanto International Senior High School
in Tokyo, Japan, have participated at LMU in a program
customized specifically for them. The program has as
its foundation the study of conversational English,
English composition, speech, reading, American history,
music, and other courses that Kanto students study while
at LMU. The three basic
components of the program are academic, social cultural
and home-stay. Many Kanto students have made LMU their
college choice after completion of their high school
experience in Japan.
World School
The
first World School was held in
Tokyo, Japan in 1997. Lincoln Memorial University was invited to
participate in this international event. In 2001, Lincoln Memorial University
was asked to host World School and in Fall 2002 World School was held at LMU
making it
the
first time the event has been held outside of Japan.
LMU proudly created
a seamless international experience for the world. From October 28 through
November 9, 2002, LMU hosted teachers and students from 15 countries and regions
including the United States during World School International Forum 2002.
World School activities included
seminars for students and teachers, international sports events, colorful and
elaborate exhibits denoting each country's culture, and the largest
international forum ever hosted by LMU.
Over 4,000 students from area
schools visited the exhibits and took part in the cultural activities during
World School 2002 at Lincoln Memorial University.
The next World School will be held
in Fall 2006.
