International Students
As an international student attending college in the United States, many wonderful
opportunities and challenges await you! We want to make this process a smooth one.
We are happy to talk with you and your family to answer your questions and help you
see how LMU can become a part of your future. Please feel free to email or call us
to discuss your plans.
To apply to LMU as an International Student:
- Submit the application for admission (include both pages) and the required $25 fee
- Have OFFICIAL transcripts translated into English and sent to LMU from all high schools and colleges/universities you have attended
- Submit an official copy of your ACT or SAT scores, or submit your TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) results to the Admissions Office
- Submit the required statement demonstrating your means of financial support while attending LMU (a notarized bank statement)
English Language Institute
Lincoln Memorial University offers an English as a Second Language program through
our English Language Institute (ELI). An international student scoring below 500
on the TOEFL may be granted Provisional Admission while enrolled in ELI courses
during his/her first academic year at LMU. The international student may also be
able to enroll in regular college courses with the recommendation of the Director
of ELI. Advanced ELI courses earn academic credit hours toward a degree. The
international student should consult the Director of the ELI regarding placement
tests, ESL courses, academic advising, and orientation to campus life.
Additional Information
There is a June 1 deadline for international applications for the fall semester.
Be sure you include evidence of your family's ability to pay for your education
(see above). All the above documentation must be received and admission granted
before issuance of an I-20 form, necessary for obtaining a student visa. If you
are accepted to LMU, you will receive a letter of acceptance; that letter and the
I-20 form furnished by the university must be presented to the Consular Officer of
the United States in your home country, to whom you apply for a student visa.
The university will not enroll any student not approved by the Immigration and
Naturalization Service (INS) to attend Lincoln Memorial University; the university
will not enroll students issued visas for enrollment at other colleges or universities.
