Financial Aid
Financial Aid Application Procedure

Most financial aid is awarded on a first come, first served basis. With that in mind, you should begin the application process as early as possible to ensure the availability of financial aid funds. The ideal time to apply for financial aid is early February. The priority filing date is April 1.

You should also note that no financial aid will be awarded until you have been officially admitted to Lincoln Memorial University. So, step one: Apply for Admission!

FAFSA

All financial aid applicants are required to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Download it at the FAFSA website or get a copy from your high school or college guidance counselor.

By completing the FAFSA, you will be applying for all need-based financial aid programs at Lincoln Memorial University. You should submit the FAFSA no earlier than January 1, but no later than April 1 for priority consideration. Within four weeks after you mail your FAFSA, the U.S. Department of Education will send you a Student Aid Report (SAR). When you receive your SAR, please call the Financial Aid Office to verify that we have received a copy electronically. (Your SAR might include language about verifying your FAFSA accuracy. Please click here to read more about Verification.)

Lincoln Memorial University's FAFSA code is: 003502.

Professional Judgment Appeal

If you have an unusual financial situation that has occurred since you filed your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), please complete the Professional Judgment Appeal form and return it to the Financial Aid Office as soon as possible.

Awards and Disbursement

Once the application process is complete, you will receive an Award Notification Letter by mail. (Applicants who adhere to the April 1 priority deadline should receive notification of their financial aid eligibility from Lincoln Memorial University no later than April 15.) The Award Notification Letter will state all of the awards you are eligible for, including all federal, state, and institutional financial aid.

The awards are calculated based on the information contained on your Student Aid Report. If information regarding your housing or enrollment status changes, the financial aid award package may also change. Also, if any other aid or scholarships are awarded to you from outside sources, your award package may change.

If you enroll at LMU

Financial aid awards are usually made on an annual basis. The annual award is divided into two equal installments, which are posted to the student's account by the Bursar's Office during the fall and spring terms.

After applying financial aid awards to your student account, a credit balance is created, and you are eligible to receive a refund. Checks for credit balances are issued each Friday and will be mailed to you.

Summer Aid

There is a separate application for Summer Financial Aid (PDF).
